Agriculture, the mainstay of income for families and the nation and the farming families who feed us and the nation is passing through hardships due to monsoon vagaries, market fluctuations, increasing cost of cultivation, less skills in seed development to harvesting and post harvesting care etc. And thus in order to help the farmers to get acquainted with the latest agro-methods, tools, machineries, value addition, seed development, crop care, harvest, post harvest methods/technologies etc. so far we conducted “CAT” programmes for more than 2500 farmers; taking them on exposure visit, on-the-spot training etc. And we also have provided 660 small and marginalized farmers trainings in 8 districts of the state Andhra Pradesh on Organic Farming, NPM methods, Sustainable agriculture and Multi-Crop cultivation so to increase soil productivity, safe guarding the natural fertility of the soil, increased cropping harvest, market demand etc.
These farmers were also trained on Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) to make them learn the importance and key role of knowledge exchange, targeted recommendations, market integration and access to finance to make agriculture a profitable enterprise to attract their children and youth in our society.
A total of 200 Farmers were sensitized about the ill effects of chemical fertilizers and pesticides on crops, soil and environment, human and animal health. They were sensitized through Kalajatha cultural activities and lectures by the experts in the field of agriculture from Agriculture Station, Adilabad District, Telangana State, India. These 200 farmer families are from Adilabad District, Telangana State, were actively involved in this project. Around 400 acres of land was cultivated through organic farming method. These 200 organic farming families were benefited in various methods enhancing their knowledge, skills, and economic status, social perspective through us.
Also 60 small and marginalized farmers were given trainings in Animal husbandry, Azolla and Vegetable cultivation by Prof. Guruva Reddy at Guntur Lamb Farm, Andhra Pradesh India for 14 days each, for each module. These farmers were from Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh.
Pests and pesticides contribute to the major economic and ecological problems affecting the farmers, crops and their living environment. To overcome this situation in Kandukuru District, Andhra Padesh, more than 300 Farmers were sensitized and trained about the ill effects of chemical fertilizers and pesticides on crops, soil and environment, human and animal health. Farmers were sensitized through cultural activities, video shows and lectures by the experts in the field of agriculture from Agriculture Station, Prakasam District, AP, India. Around 600 acres of land was cultivated through organic farming.
